I was brave!
I finally decided what to do with my half yard of Kona Modern Quilts designed by Cynthia Frenette fro Robert Kaufman. It is for a guild challenge and I need to be done by October and I could only use Kona solids or other prints in this line. Eek! I was waffling on what to do since it is not a huge chunk of fabric. I added a few solids to the stash over the last few weeks but I had some troubles getting exact matchy matchy solids in our neck of the woods. But I did have solids that worked. I cut the Kona Modern Quilts into 5" squares, gathered my chosen solids and just got busy. I think it looks just great and it is going to be a very contemporary baby quilt when I am all finished. This is it spread all over the design bed!
And just so you know, Cynthia is one of our guild founders! We get to brush shoulders with her famous-ness!! Or fame-itude. Or famous-ity. Just plain loveliness.
I used Kona Artichoke, Sunflower, Ruby, Ash and Coal. Each 5" square is framed in 2" strips of the solids. It was interesting to be restricted to fabrics that met the criteria and it was was challenging to come up with a plan within the restrictions. I felt so much better once I had cut it into squares. It was strangely a relief! then I just went for it.

Aww you are too kind!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh it looks great!! I love the solids you chose, they go with it perfectly and the design suits it to a "t"- awesome awesome!! I still have to start mine, I think it's going to be a sew-in day project...!
That looks great, Cathy! I have the same print for the challenge in a different colour way. Now I'm going to have a hard time thinking of doing anything other than this plan, I like it so much!
