Flea Market Fancy for a Featherweight

Well.  Isn't she just so well dressed in her Flea Market Fancy sewing machine cover?  I love this fabric.  I really tried not to twinge when I cut into it.  Of course, I was only cutting a 2.5" strip off each print so it wasn't like I was going to use it all up!

So I randomly patched 2.5" squares together until it was roughly the size of a tea towel.  I sandwiched it with a batting scrap and a lovely vintage green print from my Gramma's stash.  I quilted it up with lots of Aurifil 50 wt in white and then bound it in grey seeds.  The ties are also grey seeds.  I can either have the little base of the featherweight folded up or down and there is still enough room for the cover to be tied neatly.

New feet  (new rubber feet all around) and a Flea Market Fancy cover.  This little sweetie is ready for anything!

  3. very cute. I like using my favourite fabrics in places I can see them everyday, so we eat off kaffe placemats. bring the FW over and we can sew together! I have a FW table where it fits right in!--

  11. I love this fabric and I love the cover - I think I will be making one for my machine. Sometimes it is nice to have something super colorful and inspiring that performs such a simple function - to cover!

(by the way this is my first time visiting (through Finish it Friday at crazymomquilts) and I'll be sure to check in occasionally to see what other great and pretty projects you are working on!)

  12. Your purchase of 'Daisy Marie' inspired me to start scouting around for one of these ladies for myself!!!! and at the beginning of the week, one came up on one of my saved searches for much less than any of the others I'd seen - and it was in my city. Anyway, long story short I picked it up the next day and she is sitting on the table in the lounge making me smile each time I see her! I am playing with some fabric to make a cover a bit like yours, but don't think I'll get any sewing time for a while as it is the school holidays here in Australia so very busy at our house!!

    Love reading your blog!
