work in progress Wednesday...
I have been working on a number of Christmas gifts. Which I cannot share because the recipients read my blog. So what I will show you is another Perfectly Quilted Totes in progress. This is a fabulous Elizabeth Hartman pattern and I have made several of them already. This is the wide tote. I have to say that Elizabeth writes really excellent patterns. The only thing I changed with this is to make the inside facing and the outside top panel deeper. I decided to do this to make the stitching around the magnetic snap easier. It was an inspired idea. I just increased the two pieces by 1/2" and it made all the difference. This is also a great pattern to use up scraps! And this is destined to be a gift for a friend. I think it is just the thing!
I am also sharing what I found on Sunday afternoon when I decided it might be time to give my sewing machine a bit of a clean out. This is evidence of the fact that I have been sewing. Gack! Look at all the fluff! Seriously. So yes, I am sewing but I am just not sharing! I actually took out the vacuum cleaner to tackle this fluff-fest!
Linking up with the Needle and Thread Network and Lee at Freshly Pieced for Work in Progress Wednesday.
That fluff just reminded me that I haven't cleaned my machine in a while! :-). That tote is going to be really nice.
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun to see all your secret projects. Have a great Christmas Cathy!
ReplyDeleteI have finally been able to remember (most of the time) lately to clean out my bobbin area often. Jeepers creepers how does all that stuff get in there???? :-)
ReplyDeleteCute tote! Good luck getting all your gifty projects finished in time.
ReplyDeleteI've learned to deal with the fluff every time I get ready to sew. All it takes is a Q-tip, which is far less costly than a sewing machine repair!
The fluff doesn't look toooo bad, at least it's not all compacted in your feed dogs, which mine sometimes does!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it is going to be a lovely tote. Lucky friend. I just finished cleaning my machine. Still had a problem, changed the needle... what a difference that made.
ReplyDeleteThat tote is going to be a very nice gift! You've reminded me that I've been telling my machine "I promise to clean you out when this quilt is finished!" for a while now...and just finished the quilt. It has the same insides as your machine--you have a Janome 6300/6600 or similar? It's fun to find other quilter-bloggers with sister machines to mine!
