And what I made..

And this is what I made for swapping with  Cynthia.  I used lots of Anna Maria Horner scraps along with some other saturated scraps-Negley, Fassett and the like.  I think some of my infamous turnip fabric even wound up in there.  Sure it did, right on the bottom right.  I used some scraps of linen to frame it all in and lots of straight line quilting in a really lovely gold beige Aurifil 40 wt.  Perfect with the linen!  Measuring about 16" by 22", I think it is a nice table mat size.  The binding is a remnant that my daughter picked up for me in Oregon.

Done and delivered at guild last week along with scraps a some rope.  Yep.  Rope.  Cynthia makes simply awesome fabric baskets with the rope and I decided that it was better being used at her house than sitting in a bin at my house.

Swap-tastic!

Well. I have some pretty awesome quilt guild buddies at the Fraser Valley Modern Quilt Guild and Cynthia is definitely one of them.  Cynthia is a fabric designer for Robert Kaufman and is also the creative genius and publisher of Made In Magazine.  Cynthia and I decided to do a little private scrappy swap.  We each made a table mat and we super sized the scraps to a yard plus.  Cynthia made the awesome hexi mat for me and she has a tutorial on her blog for a mini version if you want to check it out.

And then the scrap goodness!  Cynthia made sure to add several bits of her own fabric designs including this stitching one which is apparently found at Jo-Anns as we speak.

Swapping is so much fun!  It is so much fun that I mailed my Modern Scrappy Bits Swap Round 5 package today without taking any pictures!!!!  How can this be!!!!

Scrappy Swap Package Arrived!!!

Oh my goodness!!!!!  How pretty is this????  Eeek!  What a lovely pouch!  But wait... you have to see the inside!  It is pretty too.  And scrappy!

and the back is all texty goodness.  I am most happy!  Deanna aka.  Principiessa (in the flickr world) has been hard at work on this beauty.

Then came the scraps.  Mmm, yummy!  Do you see the lovely treasure sitting happily in the pile of scraps?  Deanna sent me this lovely Christmas ornament... hand painted in the Netherlands because she grew up in a very Dutch community.  Isn't it sweet?  My mother will be most jealous.  She loves Delft and blue and white!  Love it!  Thank you so much, Deanna!  Nothing like quilty mail to make your day!

You know what is really funny?  Deanna was my winner of the Anna Marie Horner bundle from the Canadian Blogathon.  Too funny!  We were destined to be scrappy partners!

It's in the mail...

My Scrappy Swap package is the mail!  Winging its way across the skies to my swap partner.  I hope she likes it!!!!  Truffle pigs and all!

And I have a sneak peak on my new wall of shelves.  I cannot believe how fabulous this will be.  There will be drawers as well.  Husband has measured my scrap boxes and other things and made the shelves to accommodate all my sewing junk.  He is amazing and I am spoiled.  The drawers are the right size for what I want to put in them.  Like thread.  Drawers for my thread.  Squeal!

Finish it up Friday and Just Three

I finished the hand made item for my Scrappy Swap Partner.  I quite like it.  I think she will too.  I did a bit of hand quilting here and there.  You cannot see it well at all but on the spine, I fussy cut a wee snail.  Why not?  I used a bit of the selvage from the Pips fabric just for fun.

I looked back at my Just Three goals from last month.  Hmmm.  

1.  How about  I get some work done on my Proverbial quilt.  Ya.  I can do that.    I made great progress with this goal. Yay me!

2.  I will finish the "another star" block quilt that I just started on (the blocks above).  Mmm.  That is a brave goal.

And it was too brave.  Mostly because I got sidetracked with the Scrappy Stash QAL.  A quilt which I have finished but it just hasn't made its blog debut yet!

  

3.  And I think I should make some zippy pouches.  Maybe 2 or 3.  

Oh man, this was a bust as well.  I did, however, make a needle book for the quilt guild draw prize, several Jane Market bags and a covered journal but no zippy pouches.  

This month, my Just Three goals will be...

1.  Finish the Another Star quilt.  

2.  Finish the Proverbial Sunshine quilt.

3.  Make a few pillows.  Maybe some Christmas ones?

I signed up for another scrappy swap!  This one is the Scrappy Swap hosted by Kat who blogs at Diary of a Flutter.Kat.  Sign ups are still open if you are interested in a fun wee swap.  One of the stipulations was that you had to hurry up and post an inspiration mosaic.  EEk!  Such pressure.  I used Big Huge Labs and then uploaded it to Flikr.  EEk!  It worked.  It was tricky to decide what to include in my inspiration mosaic.  I think it shows that I like colour.

and for some most exciting news, I won a pattern for a market square tote on Felicity's blog.  The tote is designed by Nikki, The girl who quilts.  I have already downloaded the pdf pattern and it is very, very thorough and easy to follow so I will have to get cracking!  Thank you, Felicity!!!

Back to sewing.  Actually, not true.  Down to the exercise bike.  But I will be able to ponder my wonky log cabin scrap quilt layout while I cycle from my perch on the bike seat!!!
