Eep! I found some treasures! I stopped at the thrift store on my way home from work on Friday. Just a little Friday afternoon fun. I didn't spend a lot of time there but I found this vintage pillow ticking. Brand new, and the good part of a bolt, I am sure. 8.5 metres! That is over 9 yards, people! It is narrow at 72 cm or 28" which I guess is the length of a pillow. But it is just lovely. A really good weight and it washed really well. I don't usually pre-wash fabrics but I just wasn't sure about the shrinkage factor when dealing with vintage fabric. So there you have it. Just a whole pile of ticking. It would make a great quilt back!

great find, love thrifting, went to VV last week and got 2 bags of "scraps" at 3.99 each. lol it was a good deal, all from the late 80's and maybe 92. Hoffman cats dated 1989! tons of great fabric. a big green piece of felt like we don't get anymore. just crazy some days you get a good one and then months with nothing.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever score some goodies. I haven't rummaged around a thrift store in ages!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Bargains are always fun.
ReplyDeletefor many years I had to hide the fact that I did a good deal of shopping at thrift stores. I was raised by a very thrifty mom, but the rest of the world didn't seem to think that thrift was okay! My Mother in Law even said that I couldn't bring my kids into her house when they had thrift store finds on! I am so glad that people see there is not only the low price to cheer about but the recycling idea that makes thrift acceptable now!
ReplyDeleteYou just find the neatest things! I am making small doll quilts and look for ticking for mattresses as my husband is making doll beds. I found Jo Morton ticking in various colors, but you have prized stuff!
