Berries in the Fog

 Name:  Berries in the Fog
Design:  Improv under the influence... Chess on the Steps by Krista Hennebury
Size:  34"" by 32"
Fabric:Kona solids in greys, pinks, purples and a touch of white
Quilted: by me with Aurifil 50 wt in grey and cerise in straight lines in 2 directions

I took this workshop with the lovely Krista about a month ago and finally finished it on the weekend.  A few things seemed to get in the way of the finish but I am so pleased with it!  First of all, Krista is an excellent teacher and I thoroughly enjoyed taking the class with her.  If you get a chance, jump on it!  The quilting took a little bit longer because I straight lined it in my awesome Aurifil in 2 directions.  All that starting and stopping took awhile!  I faced the quilt rather than binding in a traditional way and I think it looks fabulous!  Berries in the fog.

Thinking that I will pop this into the Blogger's Spring Quilt Festival , small quilts category, because it just seems like a good idea!

Pop on over and see all the lovelies!

How many 40 yard rolls of Warm and Natural batting fit into one minivan?  That would be 7.  There are 2 more rolls in the back seat and then I had to call in reinforcements for the other 4 rolls.  I negotiated a great deal on a bulk order of batting for my guild with a local retailer.  Seriously successful and seriously fun.

This is what the cutting station looked like in the hallway of the school where we meet prior to our guild meeting the other day.  A quilting husband somehow got coerced into helping!  What a system!
Let me just say there was a lot of laughing!

Then we had a guild zippy pouch swap with goodies.  The lovely Hedda made this one and I was the lucky recipient. Awesome!

And my guild buddy Barbara found me this lovely bit of Liberty on her travels.  The zodiac.  Just lovely and then she made these labels with Kraft-Tex.  Snazzy!

And finally.  Last weekend I zoomed up country to visit my Mum.  It was Mother's Day.  Bonus.  Penticton Quilt Show.  Bonus.  Our guild had a bunch of quilts in a special display at the quilt show.  And there were some great garage sales and thrift shops to visit.  Mum gifted me with some very special Jadeite!  Nice!!!

and I found a bag of old buttons.  And that is the end of the Mish-Mash!

Kona Solids and Sew Sisters Mother's Day Sale

A package of squishy fabric was waiting for me today.  I had ordered some Kona solids from Sew Sisters last week.  And here they are!  Do you notice a trend?  Lots of neutrally colours.  In no particular order we have Medium Grey, Limestone, Pale Flesh, Pewter, Shadow, Silver and Butter.  Hmm.  I think Butter must be hiding in the pile.  Trust me.  Butter is there but hiding.

And in case you wanted to go shopping, Sew Sisters has a Mother's Day sale.  May 10 only.

Treat yourself!

Check this out...

My buddy Cynthia gave me a copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks.  Yep.  Pretty cool because she has a block in it again.  And look at it!  A sewing machine!  Sweet!

And don't forget to stop by for the Sew Mama Sew Giveway Day on Wednesday.
