Kona Club Challenge over at Sew Sisters and a Giveaway

I have a project featured over at  Sew Sisters for their Kona Club Challenge today.  I was asked to come up with an original project using one of their monthly bundles of Kona cotton.  Each month Kona Club members recieve 4 FQs or 4 half yards of Kona Cotton.  The bundle is inspired by a photograph and the bundle I used  was from August.  But I am not going to tell you anything more.

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

Sunday Stash

Fun fat quarters... can you name them?

Really not coordinating roll ends... can you name these ones?

I am really getting a lot of sewing related fabric.  

I popped into my favourite and fabulous local quilt shop yesterday after the thrift stores failed to deliver.  I was looking to see if they had any scrap bags.  I just so love scrap bags.  No scrap bags but I did pick up a couple of roll ends and fat quarters were buy 2 get one free.  Yummy!

I am off to the spa with the card ladies this afternoon.  So seriously exciting.  We play Whist for money (not much money... not like we are wild gamblers!) and have saved all the money from the last year and a half and now we are going to blow a big chunk of it on the spa.  Wahoo!  Then dinner and cards afterwards.  I love my card ladies!  They are just the best!!!

Saturday sewing...

Thrift stores were a bust today.  I have not had good luck lately at all.  (Scowly face)  I did, however get some sewing done today.  My Farmer's Wife blocks are piling up and the end is so close, I can taste it!!!  The pile numbers 100 blocks as of today and I am going to try to make a few more today.  Yippee!!!

I took this picture of one of the Farmer's Wife blocks in progress.  Just to show the absolute insanity of the little bits that these are made up of.  Good grief.  A bazillion and a half little triangles sewn into half a bazillion little squares which are then sewn together.  Who thought this up?  And what crazy quilters are doing this for fun?  Oh...  me.  He he he....

Farmer's Wife Quilt Along: Week 40

Week 40!  Amazing!  This week I made 4 blocks!  I can almost taste the finish line!  I used very similar colours for the shooting star block as they did in the book.  I did this on purpose because I really did not want to tax my brain anymore than I needed to as this block had all sorts of reversed pieces.  Anyway, I am perfectly content with it.  I fussy cut strawberries for the strawberry basket.  So cute!  And I put on my big girl pants and did the 2 blocks with many half square triangles.  Phew!  So I think I must be very close to 100 blocks and that means the countdown is really on to 111!!!!!!!

Husband likes to guess the names of the blocks when I made them.  As I love sharing (showing off) the blocks as I make them, he has become strangely creative with coming up with block names.  This is why the strawberry basket block is on its side not on point.  He says it should be called Fish on the Bank.  So silly.  But it does sort of look like that!

We have a winner!!!!

One the sewing front, I have been making a few Kaleidoscope blocks in shades of aqua and grey.  At first these were driving me CRAZY but I have it down to a science now and I can crank them out without any strangeness!  I like to challenge myself with some new blocks every now and then.  Enough about that...

Design Wall Monday on the barn

Swoon top on the barn

It was such a beautiful day yesterday that I popped my swoon top on the barn wall for a photo op.  Tee hee hee!   I am getting there!  I borrowed Katy's idea of using cornerstones along with the sashing.  I just used random scraps from the quilt squares.  Now I have to think about the back and the big question of how to quilt it!  This is a really big quilt.  It is even dragging on the ground a bit in this photo.

I was tickled to see that Katy included my swoon blocks on the floor from last week in her little swoon mosaic.  More tee hee hee!

So there you have it.  I have been working on a few other things but more on that later!  Design wall on the barn.
