Road Trip!
Husband and I took off on Friday and headed for Alberta. Thanksgiving with daughter and her special someone was the plan! It was a gorgeous day for a long drive. And I mean a long drive. Even Mt. Robson was cloud free.
We spied a moving sale in Jasper so we had to check it out. Daughter scooped muffin pans and Christmas decorations. I think I was being told to not take a picture of her. Oops!
Aww! They are such good sports. And no, I am not going to pay you royalties when your pictures show up on the blog. They put up with my crazy road trip picture taking and we even found a quilt shop. Why didn't I take a picture of that? I did buy some fabric.
Medicine Lake, Alberta. It apparently fills up with melt water and then disappears as the summer progresses. Oh. These are the Canadian Rockies just so you know. There was even a little bit of snow here and there and I do admit to throwing a snowball at Husband and it connected. I think he was surprised.
Maligne, Lake, Alberta. See the snow on the right????? EEEK!
Daughter says this guy is always in the same spot blocking traffic.
We drove home today. We had so much fun. And Daughter totally rocks a turkey dinner! It was delicious!

Quilt in the works
It is officially four blocks. Of course there is not enough variety in the blocks yet because I tend to make them in pairs but it is making me happy so far. I love them on point and I am liking the way the white square will appear between the blocks. I just love the way quilt blocks make secondary patterns when you stick the blocks altogether. Happiness in a quilt block. Just like that.
Oh and the link to the block is over at Fresh Lemons. And she has just made a fabulous star quilt to take as a sample to the Sewing Summit.

A little Friday Finish
I made another Mendocino needle book. I used this tutorial but made it just a wee bit bigger. I also added a pocket to the front and back cover. How much fun is this? I had another fabulous vintage button to use for the closure.
And then I had a lot of fun with the inside pages. I used a really fabulous wool felt for the pages. It has a lot more body and substance than regular craft felt. I used my handy dandy fancy rotary cutter blade that I leave in my handy dandy back up rotary cutter for making fancy edges on the pages. Snazzy!
This will be a door prize for my next quilt guild meeting and I really hope it goes over well. And I am going to link up with Amanda's finish it up Friday and with Megan for Sew Modern Monday. Be sure to check out all the other finishes! I am going to do just that.

Random Thursday!
Husband was making buns. Seriously. Is it just me? I won't say anything more. Let's just let this picture speak for itself.
We had frost this morning. Two mornings in a row. I love fall.
Did I mention I am going to Disneyland? Just for the day. I am taking 5 of my students on a "Dreams Take Flight" trip. It gives me goosebumps. We are currently counting sleeps.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving.
Off to pick grapes with Husband.

WIP Wednesday and Just Three!
I have 3 works in progress as we speak.
1) I started another Mendocino needle book for a door prize donation at our next quilt guild meeting. I love it! I just had to make another one.
2) And then I started another quilt!!! Oh, I love this block and I am having a lot of fun with fabric!!! I am using all sorts of lovely Martha Negley prints and Amy Butler and and and.... This is a block that I found at Fresh Lemons.
3) My Proverbial quilt is coming along!
And that is it for now. Thanksgiving is coming in Canada and I think that will mean very little sewing time but who knows!
Now for the Just Three!
Last month I said...
So those are my Just Three goals. Easy Peasy. And they were. For this month.
2. Make more progress on my Proverbial quilt. So doable.
3. Make more fabric covered journals. At least 3 more. Maybe some Jane Market bags too.
Oh my goodness!!!!! I did it all! I cannot believe it! I also made a couple of baby quilts.
Here are some new ones.
1. How about I get some work done on my Proverbial quilt. Ya. I can do that.
2. I will finish the "another star" block quilt that I just started on (the blocks above). Mmm. That is a brave goal.
3. And I think I should make some zippy pouches. Maybe 2 or 3.

Wonky House Block for Julianne
I managed to make one wonky house block for Julianne and have plans to make a few more but I have not yet got to it. I seem to be pretty darn busy with school. I like this one though. It is wonky and it is a house. It is also bright and cheerful and I think that those were things that Julianne was looking for. These blocks will be destined for a wall quilt to hang in a ob/gyn wing at the hospital where Julianne works. Hopefully this block and the ones to follow will fit the bill. Have a super rest of your day!
