Work In Progress Wednesday...

Okay.  I know it is Tuesday but I had to go to the dentist today.  Then I thought that I should do my work in progress post today because who knows what will happen tomorrow.  Maybe like a bit of reward because I did not have any cavities.  Did I mention that going to the dentist is not a favoured activity?  I knew it was destined to be a dentist kind of a day today too because at least three children came to the office for tooth boxes to store their wee lost teeth in.  We don't usually get that many losing teeth in one day.  Anyway.

I was grateful that I had a long weekend to sew my brains out.  I was in craft sale production mode and cranked out table runners, bags and pillows.  My two on the go quilts took a backseat to my factory like production.

1)  Another Star quilt:  no progress.  I had great hopes but they did not come to pass.  Heavy sigh.

2)  Proverbial Sunshine quilt:  no progress.  I knew this one would be in waiting mode.  Top done.  Back not done.

3)  Sewing room reno:  Great progress!  I can take no credit for this.  It is all my husband's work but he is fantastic.  This is the corner of the sewing room that is now an official wee kitchen. I do all my canning downstairs in the sewing room and the stove and extra fridge used to just sort of float in space.  Now they don't!  And look at all that great storage!  Counters will come once he does the sink wall on the opposite side of the room.  So exciting.  Husband is now traveling around the room and is about to start on an entire wall of shelves for more of my sewing... hmm.... crap.

4)  Stack of pillows.  All made yesterday.  All waiting for buttons for the backs.  Yep.  I even did buttonholes.

On the design wall...

Today is pillow day in craft sale production.  I cranked out this one early this morning and it is already together and waiting for quilting and a back.  Wonky, wonky little star is a favourite of mine.  I do have a tutorial here.   FYI.  I am finding rather odd to be creating things for imaginary people.  I am grateful to having a long weekend with an extra sewing day.  I am rather in factory production.  It is really silly after having had much notice that the sale was happening, I couldn't envisage what I should have as inventory until just recently.  So I have been in eek, sew something mode.

One more week until the Sew Sister's Blogathon Canada starts!   Be back here next Monday because I share day one duties and there will be a giveaway!

Sunday Stash

So this another one of those bundles I picked up in Pink Castle's pop up sale of a bit ago.  Somehow a picture didn't happen.  Some Flea Market Fancy, some American Jane and some of Lori Holt's line, Millie's Closet.  Those are the purses.  Just so you know.

Then yesterday, I found this.  EEK.  Some of the Paris map from the Etchings line.  EEK.  I bought a metre of it.

I have been sewing bags and table runners all weekend.  I am on my fourth table runner. I am tired of bags and table runners.  I am almost ready for the craft sale next weekend.  If nothing sells then I have a great head start on Christmas gifts!

Despite all the crazy sewing and factory like production, I did stop and stayed still for 2 minutes of silence at 11 am.  Lest we forget.

The Haul...

This is what came home with me after the de-stash at our November quilt guild meeting.  Some yardage.  Lots of fat quarters including a stack of fat quarters from one of Robyn Pandolph's lines.  Total shabby chic or what?  One quilter's trash is another quilter's treasure!  Yes, that is even some Aurifil thread.  And scraps.  Yep, I found several bags of scraps.  My scrap boxes are stuffed.

It was so much fun pawing through the mountains are stuff.  There were piles of leftovers.  I took several boxes and have donated it all to a church group who are working to fill a container for Haiti.  The fabric and thread will be greatly appreciated there I am sure.  I was told that they had been looking for fabric!  Serendipity!

It was beautiful sunny day and our old kitty was having a heck of a good time in the sunshine.  Have a great rest of your day!

Scrappy Stash Quilt Along

I finished this one a week or so ago.  Made for the Scrappy Stash Quilt Along hosted by Ellison Lane Quilts, this wonky log cabin quilt top is made completely from scraps!  The challenge was to make monochromatic log cabin blocks from your scraps.  Sounds easy enough and the blocks actually went together really quickly.  The puzzle was how to put them altogether.  Initially, I had a random layout but on a whim, I decided to try a rainbow.  It worked!  I just had to make a few extra blocks to round out the quilt.  The quilt is bound in a blue on blue stripe and quilted simply on either side of the blocks in Aurifil 50 wt in white.  The busy scrappiness didn't seem to need any more quilting than a simple grid.  The back has a fun print with streamers and some colourful bits of leftovers.  Linking up with the Scrappy Stash QAL on Monday and with Amanda Jean's Finish it up Fridays.

Random Thursday

Look at me already to go.  Look at the really dated 1970s flooring downstairs.   Tonight is de-stash at the quilt guild.  So exciting!!!!!!  My elbows are all sharpened and my shoes are extra speedy.  I have polished my glasses too so I can spy some really wonderful bits.  Look at all the stuff I am de-stashing!  So much fun!

Today was the day that most of the leaves blew out of the trees. The blueberries lost most of their leaves too.  It is funny how that goes.

Despite the leaves falling, I picked the last rose of summer on the weekend.  Isn't it a beauty?  It had an incredibly long stem as well.  It smelled heavenly.

Happy Diwali!

Work in Progress Wednesday

1) Currently sitting at 16 blocks and I think I need about 25 is the Another Star quilt.  It is happily poking along.  I am hoping to wham out the last 9 blocks this weekend and then who knows what will happen!

2)  Since I finished the top of Proverbial Sunshine, I am now thinking about the back.  This is a big quilt so it will need a big back.  I had this vintage sheet.  I think I like it.  I will however, need to work some magic as it is not quite big enough despite being a double flat.  This quilt makes me happy, even when skies are gray!  Okay, that was a bit cheesy.

3)  EEK!  What the heck is going on?  Under all those sheets is my sewing table and sewing machine.  Husband is renovating my sewing room.  He started with the kitchen side of the room.  This is our second stove that I use for canning.  He is making it a more official little wee kitchen at one end of the room rather than just having a floating stove and fridge.  Then I will have a huge open wall which will house a HUGE design wall.  Then he is making me another wall of shelves for all that other stuff like thread and quilting books and buttons.  It is just so exciting but right now it is a MESS even though he is the tidiest renovator known!  I put fabric together.  He puts wood together but we both construct.  Kind of cool.

So there.  Works in progress.  Linking up with Work in Progress Wednesday at Freshly Pieced and the Needle and Thread Network.
